Herd Manager – Tipperary

At Grasstec, we are recruiting on behalf of a customer for an experienced Herd Manager to join a progressive dairy farm in Co. Tipperary. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a well-managed operation, milking 500 cows on a spring-calving, grass-based system.

Farm Facilities:

• 37-unit swing-over parlour

• Modern infrastructure and equipment

• Supportive team, working alongside the farm owner and two other staff members

Requirements:

• Full, clean driver’s licence (essential)

• Tractor and machinery experience (advantage)

• Self-motivated, reliable, honest, and eager to expand knowledge and skills

Key Responsibilities:

Herd Management

• Monitor livestock for health issues and administer treatment as required

• Implement vaccination and herd health programmes

• Record and maintain herd health data

• Manage mastitis and dry cow programmes

• Identify and treat lameness

Reproduction

• Identify cows and heifers for breeding

• Monitor and assist during calving

• Record AI and calving details accurately

Young Stock

• Oversee health and growth of calves and young stock

• Carry out vaccination and dosing programmes

Grassland Management

• Manage and budget grass allocations (training provided if required)
