600-Cow Dairy Farm, Cashel, Co. Tipperary

Grasstec are recruiting on behalf of our client a Dairy Farm Manager to lead the team on a 600-cow dairy operation near Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a large, high-performing dairy herd on a top-class farm.

About the Farm

The farm is a large-scale dairy business with:

• High EBI Black & White dairy herd
• Modern rotary milking parlour
• Excellent grazing infrastructure
• Long grazing season
• Well-organised farm systems
• Strong existing team
• New calf-rearing facilities
• All grazing land in one block

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management of the dairy business
• Lead and develop the farm team
• Prepare and manage the staff roster
• Ensure high standards of milking routine and hygiene
• Monitor herd health and maintain high animal husbandry standards
• Deliver high standards of grassland management and grass budgeting
• Manage the winter feed budget
• Assist with preparing and monitoring financial budgets
• Oversee the management of replacement livestock
• Maintain accurate herd and farm records
• Take a hands-on, active role in the running of the farm

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role on a large, grazing-based herd in Ireland or abroad
• Proven communication and organisational skills
• A proven ability to manage people effectively
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Good practical knowledge of dairy herd management
• A strong understanding of grassland and grazing management
• A strong work ethic and positive attitude
• High attention to detail
