Stock Description: Herd dispersal due to selling the farm, nice herd of genuine cows that are majority 3 way cross, small stature Holstein x Friesian x Red & Whites. This has bred a 600kg cow that has strength and width yet maintains dairy character, well attached udders with good feet and legs. A small proportion of the herd is Irish Hol/Fr x NZ genetics these will be approx 540 kg cows, these are still maturing and full of potential to be medium size cows with high milk solids. The cows are cubicle housed and milked through a herringbone parlour. There are 20 cows fresh calved and a further 20 to calve before the end of October. Followed by 21 due Nov then 29 due Feb-Mar next year. The cows are available as a whole or split into the 3 groups by calving date.
Production Capacity: The herd is achieving a very credible 7150 litres milk sold @ 4.65 fat 3.64 pro this amounting to 610kg milk solids sold achieving 1kg kilk solids per kg live weight. This is achieved on a simple system extensive grazing with only grass silage and parlour feed in winter. These cows would be able to achieve higher yields on a more intensive system.
Age & Lactation: The herd is very youthful, autumn group (61) lac 1 = 14, lac 2 = 16, lac 3 = 15, lac 4 = 7 and lac 5+ = 9. The spring group (29) lac 1 = 12, lac 2 = 5, lac 3 = 6, lac 4 = 2 and lac 5+ = 4.
TB Status: The herd is located in tb4 area and last passed a full herd test in Oct 23.
Health Status: The herd is tested for Johnes 4 times per year with less than 1% high reading and these cows are culled. The herd is also tested 4 times per year for SCC, dry cows are all teat sealed and antibiotics only used strategically. The herd is regularly tested for BVD and IBR and is clear. The herd is vaccinated for Lepto.
Unique Selling Point: Not very often these medium size genuine autumn calving cows come on the market, these cows would adapt to most systems, robust cows that can graze and can also put litres in the tank.
