Stock Description: Here we have a herd dispersal of Mar-Apr calving x bred cows, the cows originated from a long established herd in the south, breeding would be Lic and Crv with Viking Red used in later years. As you can see in the photos the cows are very much in their working clothes but are in great body condition. All due Mar-Apr to a Viking Red sired bull. The cows will hit the ground running in time for the spring grass flush.
Production Capacity: Originally the cows were from a OAD herd but have been on twice per day in their current herd. Achieving 5300 litres, 4.94% fat and 3.72% pro on just 700kg parlour feed. This is with the cows outside throughout lactation. Currently cubicle housed on big bale silage. The cows would achieve higher yields on a more intensive system.
Age & Lactation: The herd is youthful with 70 cows due with 5th calf or less and only 14 older cows. The older cows still look youthful and show how these cows are bred for longevity and durability.
Health Status: The herd is located in a TB4 area with the herd tested anually. The cows were indivual Johnes tested at the source herd.
Unique Selling Point: Large group of xbred cows close to calving.
