Stock Description: Large group of surplus spring bulling heifers all AI sired from a March-April calving grass based herd. The herd is run on a simple grass system with just grazing plus grass and maize silage and brewers grains no parlour feed fed. The herd is a mix of Irish Holstein-Friesians and LIC x bred cows. The heifers are sired by high EBI Irish Hol-Fr and also some Viking Red. These are maturing into balanced medium sized cows with 520-550 mature liveweight. The herd has had fantastic fertility results over the last few years resulting in these surplus heifers coming onto the market.
Production Capacity: Herd performance is 5630 litres, 4.64% fat and 3.81% pro from just grazing, silage and brewers grains. These cows would be capable of higher yields on a more intensive system.
Age & Lactation: The heifers are all March - April 24 born.
TB Status: They are located in a TB4 area.
Health Status: The herd is Johnes monitored with no heifers out of known red cows. The herd is located in a TB4 area. The heifers are located in the Blue Tongue zone and will be tested before movement is travelling out of the zone.
