Stock Description: Here we have a quality group of March calving heifers, coming from a split block herd that is moving to a more autumn bias, hence why the heifers are on the market. These heifers are in great condition exhibiting both strength and dairy character. The herd come from a base of Irish Hol/Fr cows which were then crossed with NZ LIC sires then back to Irish Holstein Friesian sires. All the heifers are AI sired by Genus Holstein-Friesian sires. The mature weight of the herd will be 550 kg. The heifers are due from early March through to early April and in calf to easy calving A Angus.
Production Capacity: Herd performance is impressive, split block herd based around extensive grazing and 1.2 tonne fed in the parlour. The herd is achieving 6650 litre 4.53 3.59 = 556 kg milk solids off a 550kg cow. The genetics are there for higher yields to be achievable on a higher input system.
Age & Lactation: The heifers will be calving at 24/25 months of age.
TB Status: The farm had a TB history of 30 years clear until 2 years ago where they had 1 failed skin test but showed no lesions. The herd has been clear since.
Health Status: The farm Johnes tests and no heifers are out of known red cows. They are vaccinated for Ibr, Lepto and Bvd.
