Stock Description: A very nice group of 34 cows and 6 in calf heifers all due to calve to Hereford stock bull in a 4 week window in May. Coming from a late spring calving herd ( start date 11 March). These cows are genuine surplus due to good fertility in the last few years. The cows are in great condition ahead of calving. Mature herd liveweight would be 520 kg. All cows are functionally correct with well attached udders and walk on good feet and legs.
Production Capacity: The herd is achieving 5500 litres, 4.8% fat and 3.7% protein on an extensive grass based system, grazing-grass silage and parlour feed. Cubicle housed and milked in herringbone. Management is focused on milk from forage-profit per litre. The cows would be capable of higher production on a more intensive system.
Age & Lactation: The group is youthful; lac1 = 9, lac2 = 8, lac4 = 8, lac 5 = 5 and 4 older cows along with 6 in calf heifers.
Health Status: The herd is in a 12 month TB testing area and has been clear for over 5 years. Vaccinated for BVD, IBR and Lepto.
