Stock Description: Here we have a great group of cows and incalf heifers all due to calve late May, June and July. They are from a large spring calving herd that has a tight 12 week calving block and these are only for sale as they are out of this block. They have been deliberately bulled late to sell. They are all AI sired from New Zealand and british Friesian genetics with bulls such Solaris kiwi, Sierra kiwi, Golden Boy, Chad, Prelude. They bred for solids and fertility. The cows are deep bodied with plenty of capacity. They are in calf to Hereford beef bulls and the heifers a friesian bull.
Production Capacity: The herd is presently run on a simple grazing spring calving system with minimal inputs and are extensively grazed. The herd genetics has been bred this way for over 10 years and it shows with the results they are achieving. They are producing 550 kg of milk solids which is about the livewight of the average cow in the herd.
Age & Lactation: The cows show youthfulness, strength and are deep bodied. There are 9 heifers in the group. There are 12; 1st lacation, 4; 2nd, 4; 3rd, 7; 4th, 2; 5th and 3 older cows. There are 4 calving in late May, 31 in June and 6 in July.
Health Status: All homebred and closed herd. Never had tb on the farm, Johnes monitored for over 15 years with very low incidence and no issue with this group of cows. Vaccinated for BVD only for insurance.
