Stock Description: A nice group of homebred surplus spring calving Irish Holstein-Friesian sired in calf heifers. Coming from a spring block calving Hol/Fr herd that are medium size cows managed on a high forage system. The heifers are all sired by Genus Irish Hol/Fr sires selcted for milk solids and health traits. The heifers are in great body condition ahead of calving from 20 Feb - late April. The early calving heifers will be in calf to dairy Ai and then ran with Hereford stock bulls. The group could be split by calving dates to suit your requirements.
Production Capacity: The herd is performing very well 6120 litres, 4.55% fat, 3.57% pro = 511 kg milk solids. This is achieved on a highly stocked grazing platform with just grass silage and 1.2 tonne parlour feed. The genetics are there for higher yields on a more intensive feeding system.
Age & Lactation: All the heifers will be Feb-Mar 23 born.
TB Status: The herd is in a 6 month testing area with no major tb breakdowns in the herd.
Health Status: The herd is Johnes monitored with no heifers out of known Johnes cows, strict protocols are followed. The herd is vaccinated for Lepto and Bvd.
