Stock Description: A rare chance to buy a genuine spring calving herd, a typical NZ bred herd that started calving on 15th Feb, everything in this group has calved and are milking very well @ 27 litres day. The herd is predominately LIC breeding with a mixture of cross bred bulls and Friesian bulls used. The cows are in great condition with a mid lactation mature weight 500 kg liveweight. The herd makes extensive use of grazed grass and are cubicle housed for a short period of time during the winter. The cows are very functionally correct with well attached udders and good feet and legs. There are no lame cows currently in the herd. The herd numbers 220 cows with a handfull of older cows that won't be sold. Would be nice for the herd to be sold as a whole as a lot of hard work and careful breeding has gone into the development of the herd to get it to where it is today. Consideration would be given to splitting the herd into 2 or 3 groups evenly dividing by age group and not by selection. Opportunities like this do not come around very often, these cows are in their prime ahead of a profitable period of producing milk from grass. This herd won't be on the market for long.
Production Capacity: The herd is currently performing very well averaging 27 litres per cow per day. 8.5%+ milk solids over 500 kg milk solids sold per cow per year from a 500 kg mature weight cow. Achieving that magic figure 1 kg milk solids sold per 1 kg liveweight. Very efficient cows.
Age & Lactation: The herd is very youthful with approx. 200 cows in lactations 2 - 6. There will be a handful of older cows but these are functionally correct. There is no 1st lactation heifers as these were sold as in calf heifers.
Health Status: The herd does not vaccinate but regularly tests via the milk. The herd is located in Tb1 area.
Unique Selling Point: Whole herd dispersal all cows calved avg 27 litres.
