Stock Description: Complete herd dispersal, 106 cows calving from 23rd August to 18 Nov. 31 already calved another 12 due Sep followed by 26 in October and 36 early Nov. There is then a further 22 due early 2025. There is another 30 cows in calf to sexed Montbeliarde, the remainder in calf to B Blue, A Angus or Hereford. The breeding of the herd is a mix of bloodlines with 40 Danish Red heifers imported from Denmark a number of years ago these have been crossed with small stature Holstein and some Montbeliarde and also some Holstein Friesian this has left a very durable 550-580 kg cow. The cows have strength and depth with very good feet and legs with well attached udders.
Production Capacity: The herd achieves an annual production 6570 litres @ 4.54% fat 3.61% pro producing 551 kg milk solids from a 550kg liveweight cow. This is achieved on a very basic grass / grass silage system with 1.2 tonne fed in the parlour. The genetics of these cows would achieve higher yield if desired on a more intensive feeding regime.
Age & Lactation: The cows are youthfull in age, 95 calving in 2nd, 3rd or 4th lactation with the remainder being older. There are no milking heifers in the herd this year.
TB Status: The herd is individually monitored for Johnes and SCC. The herd is not vaccinated but is regularly tested for BVD and Lepto with none in the herd. They are located in a 12 month TB testing area and have recently passed a whole herd test.
Unique Selling Point: These mid size autumn calving cows are hard to come by, this is a unique chance to purchase a large group from one farm from a genuine dispersal, that are cubicle trained, herringbone parlour milked and used to a robot scraper. These cows will hit the ground running to take advantage of the positive seasonality milk price.
