Stock Description: Here we have the opportunity to purchase a large number of homebred cows from one herd. Due to good fertility results and longevity in the herd there is 103 surplus cows to sell. These cows are the end of there 12 week block (weeks 6-12). 82 are due end March - 15 April then 21 due 15 April - 1st week May, all in calf to Friesian x stock bull's. The cows are currently still milking well 14 litres day, the cows can either be sold in milk or dried off. The herd is a typical NZ spring grass based herd with LIC sires used for many years. The mature liveweight would be 500kg, solid functional cows. All cows are cubicle trained and milked through a herringbone parlour.
There is also 100 empty cows available, milking and ready to serve for an autumn block.
Production Capacity: Herd performance is 5460 litres, 4.81% fat, 3.64% pro this is achieved on an extensive grass based system with no in parlour feed. Supplementary feed is fed with the grass silage at the start and end of the grazing period. The herd is achieving 475kg milk solids from a 500kg cow. These are milky cows and would respond to higher levels of purchased feed.
Age & Lactation: The group is made up of a cross section of ages, all cows will be functionally correct with well atached udders and correct feet and legs.
TB Status: The herd is in a 6 month testing area and has not had any reactors for 2 years. 2000 head tested each time.
Health Status: The cows are vaccinated for IBR, BVD and Lepto and are Johnes monitored.
Unique Selling Point: A large group of cows from one farm that would be an excellent start up herd for a new entrant this spring.
