Production Capacity: Herd performance averages 7430 litres, 4.55% fat and 3.61% pro for both spring and autumn calving groups, fair to say the autumns will be averaging more than the springs but the cow type – breeding is the same for both groups. The herd is run on a simple system utilizing grazed grass as much as possible. The herd would have the genetics that are capable of higher yields on a more intensive system.

Age & Lactation: The heifers have calved down at 2.5 years of age, this was part of the gradual change from split block calving to fully autumn calving. The extra age has given the heifers that extra growth and strength that they will compete with older cows within the herd.

Health Status: The herd is in a Tb4 area, the herd monitors for Johnes via annual blood sampling. No vaccinations with disease monitored via bulk milk samples.
