Stock Description: This is a very nice group of cows, depth, width and strength with excellent dairy characteristics, well attached udders and tracking well on their legs. These come from an autumn block herd that has reduced the length of their block, these would have calved in late 25 and missed the service window. They are still milking 23-26 litres and rising with the recent grass growth. Due to calve from early Feb in a 6 week block, in calf to pedigree Hereford bulls. There will be a mixture of breeding Irish Hol/Fr x small stature Holstein and some Norwegian Red. Mature weight of the cows will be 600 kg (10 in the group 550 kg). All the cows are correct, milking on 4 quarters, low SCC with good feet and legs. Ideally for sale as a whole group.

Production Capacity: Herd performance is 7150 litres, 4.58% fat, 3.62% pro and 603 Kg milk solids from a 600 kg liveweight cow. This is done from grazing flat rate 4kg in the parlour and moist feed mixed with the silage in winter. Higher yields could be achieved on a higher input system.

Age & Lactation: The age profile is mixed as follows lac 1 = 6, lac 2 = 7, lac 3 = 8, lac 4 = 9, lac 5 = 7, lac 6 = 3 and lac 7 = 5.

Health Status: The herd is located in a 6 month testing area farm been clean for 2 years no major breakdown. Johnes monitured no red cows in the group. Vaccinated for Lepto, Ibr and Salmonella. Not BT vaccinated in clean area.

  • Strong cows with potential to push on and give higher yields or just as happy grazing with a low input of concentrate.
