Dairy Farm on the outskirts of Limerick city is seeking an enthusiastic herd manager to join a family-run enterprise. The herd is Spring calving currently milking 120 cows in a newly built extensive 20-unit herringbone parlour. The farm is currently rearing all-female stock to enter the herd.
The focus is to increase cow numbers slightly, with the main focus on increasing milk solids per cow on better-managed grassland. The facilities are state of the art with newly built sheds and calving facilities complementing the newly built parlour on a grass-based system of 156 acres and 2 leased farms totalling 45 acres. The owner has off-farm job but will still be available to work as relief staff. Generous time off and every second weekend off. Accommodation is available on site with a newly built 2 bedroom apartment available from November.
The ideal candidate must be trustworthy, and ambitious with excellent technical and communication skills.
