Louth Dairy farm, 550 spring calving grass based herd.

Facilities include rotary parlour, sensehub collars on cows and all associated facilities. Herd manager required to support farm manager in day to day operations alongside 2 other team members.

Accommodation available if required. Full clean drivers’ licence is essential and some tractor & machinery experience would be preferred.

Applicants should be; self-motivated, seeking to expand knowledge, strong work ethic, honest and reliable.

Duties include:

Herd  management:

  • observe livestock for signs of illness & treat accordingly,
  • responsibility for vaccination & health management, collect and record data relevant to health of the heard,
  • maintain mastitis and dry cow treatment programmes,
  • recognise & deal with lameness
  • day to day heard health management

Reproductive management:

  • Identify cows & heifers for breeding
  • Monitor & assist during calving
  • Ability to keep good records of AI & calving details

Young stock management:

  • Monitor the health & growth of young stock
  • Perform vaccination & dosing programmes

Grass management:

  • The ability to manage & budget grass allocations would be an advantage, but training can be provided
